Young Architects Competitions, Vibrac, France
France has an overabundance of historical monuments, many of which stand lifeless and forgotten. Vibrac castle ruins are one of many overtaken by nature and left to decay.
The competition of tree house design aimed to reinvigorate the area by proposing an alternative living for the many tourists pouring into the country. Our proposal took a step further and tried to reignite the life in the old chateau with modern qualities. We have developed a system of four different modules that could be combined together in various configurations to support the new castle folk. Tower residents could become the protectors of the realm and enjoy distant vistas, the hut dwellers could be able to bare a simpler yet more comfortable life with an addition of a wellness area, while a part of tower structure could also be used as a lookout accessible for all.
